[Oh, but Kang does appreciate a handwritten letter. This is how he conducts business at home. Baelish will receive a letter in response a few days later, via modern postal services. Unfortunately, he doesn't have mockingbirds at his beck and call.
His handwriting is a somewhat messier cursive - he takes care to make it ledgible - and the letter is carefully folded and tied with a dark blue ribbon instead of sealed with wax.]
Ambassador,
Much belated congratulations are in order for your winning the election. I apologize for not doing so sooner. You are well-suited for it, and if your current project is any indication, you will improve the lives of both imPorts and Natives.
I will gladly donate for your cause. The modern method is, of course, to write a check. Who should it be made out to and where should it be delivered?
I am also quite willing to donate my time via reading to younglings. You are correct that I have an excellent tolerance for them, and truthfully, I would like to create a program very much like this one for my own nation if fate is willing to allow memory of this world upon leaving one day. My grandchildren would be delighted, as would all draconian younglings.
I wish you luck in your endeavors.
Respectfully, Lord-Governor Kang
P.S.: When would you like to meet? SELF is always looking for new suggestions and partnerships.
[ And that response is mockingbird delivered again! ]
Governor,
I think it's something we all wish -- that we could return to our worlds with some of the lessons we learned in this one. While they may not return in our memories, perhaps some ghost of them will be able to inspire our actions back home. At least that is my hope.
As for the check, if you could make it out to the Ambassadorial Office of Maurtia Falls along with a note that it's for the Memorial Library, my secretary will be able to take care of it properly from there. Thank you for not only the monetary donation, but offering your time. In many ways, I do think it's the time that we spend with the natives in this world that matters more than anything.
My schedule is easily changed, so if there are any times that work out better for you, do let me know. Otherwise, perhaps we could meet Monday morning? My office should be in a more presentable state by then.
Waaaaaaay late reply I am so sorry
