I'm organizing a program to assist those imPorts bonded with a non-human animal or who are of a different species. The purpose is to facilitate the acquisition of basic needs, such as food, adequate health care and housing at reasonable prices.

I have found — and correct me if your experience has been different — that these are both difficult and expensive to find. Legally, there is nothing written beyond what is already devoted to the subject of imPorts. Thus, there is a need that I hope this initiative will begin to fill.

[governorkang]

[There's a pause as he thinks it over. It's definitely relevant to his interests, and those of a few others he's talked to before.]

You would be correct about health care being difficult to find for someone of my... biochemistry, is the term? What sort of assistance do you need?

That depends on what you are able to do. As of now I am gauging interest and possible volunteers. The most important task right now is getting the word out.

I can forward you the documentation I've drafted for you to go over, which includes an overview of tasks and requirements. If you have any questions, you can call or text. I usually answer a little faster through text.

[About thirty minutes later, Kang responds.]

This is very impressive, Miss Dearing. I could use people like you back home.

[She obviously knows what she's doing.]

Did you have someone in mind already for working to procure funds and establishing relationships with local businesses? I have quite a bit of experience as a diplomat, particularly with negotiating trade agreements with reluctant parties.

Only me. I'm planning a fundraiser for the near future. A dinner in the museum I work at. It will be a start. If you have other idea, I would love to hear them. I can't today, but if you're agreeable we can schedule to meet later in the week to go over everything.

[Oh, he's got ideas already, but he needs to research their plausibility before presenting them.]

[It's still surprising to him that so many humans, particularly women, trust a draconian to come to their residence. Very few Krynnish humans would; he has to remind himself that here, no one knows about his kind or their history.]

Ah, so you've met Lord Baelish.

Not really. I saw him at the debates. He talked about killing dragons. A lot of those who want to be Ambassadors have killed dragons, or seem to consider it.

[Kang sighs almost inaudibly, taking a few seconds to figure out how to explain.]

There are dragons on other worlds, and even our own, who are not like you and your nestmates. They steal and destroy, and kill others, for pleasure. For some of the other races, that is the only type of dragon they know. They haven't yet met a dragon who is good in nature.

That particular question was likely asked because of one such dragon that arrived on this world last year. We were forced to kill her to save lives.

Is that why they start to get angry when I said I might be one?

Yes, that would be why.

The only one who didn't say anything about killing dragons is Komasan. I'm more tempted to use my vote on him.

Though I don't see the point of voting. Why not just have the strongest person around in charge?
